Hints of Fall

In just a few days it's feeling decidedly more Fall-ish around here. Two days ago it was 108, yesterday 98, and today 88. Practically nippy. And look what I scored at the grocery store tonight: the special Martha Stewart "best of" Halloween issue!
I've barely gotten a chance to glance through, but these Halloween treat bags definitely catch my attention. I'm all about the treat bags, as my children will attest. I want to start gathering supplies now so I won't be frantic or anything near the date. I can make these for the toddlers around the neighborhood, I think (and on Halloween night we always give out glow bracelets to the few trick-or-treaters who come by). Excitingly, this will be the first year that Dieter gets a costume. Ken believes in not dressing up children until they are old enough to say what they want to be, and Dieter has expressed interest in being a bat (okay, he was pretending to be a bat one day and I suggested maybe he'd like to be that for Halloween--he's cool with it, although he knows very little about Halloween so far). I'm thinking a little brown bat would be very cute, although I'm still open to inspiration when I look through the magazine. I so love observing the seasons and holidays with little ones--this should be a fun year.

Love this time of year too! This year is the first year that the kids will totally know what's up and I'm very excited about that! What do you put in the treat bags?

P.S. Is that Martha on the cover? I would not have recognized her!

Yes, it's Martha! And on the back cover she's dressed as a goth witch. For the treat bags: I'm thinking toddler oriented treats like Gerber Graduates fruit snacks, toddler cereal bars, goldfish packets, or Teddy Grahams.
