What I love: The Cutting Garden

This year Ken planted a cutting garden for me (with Dieter's help). We've had cutting gardens before, at least in theory, but this is the first time it's really worked--it's all about the soil and this location seems ideal--not too sandy, not too clay-y. There are Zinnias (my favorite), Cosmos, and giant Sunflowers, all of which are in their prime right now.
It's delightful just to sit outside in the evening and see the riot of color, but being able to make a little bouquet and bring it inside is what I especially love, and Dieter likes to go out there and help, so it's a great toddler activity too. (And special thanks to Ken for these lovely photos!)
