Patchwork Towels

I am loving making these patchwork kitchen towels! I'm also in love with the utilitarian qualities of flour sack towels, so this is the perfect union of beauty with usefulness for me. It is so entirely pleasing to work with my fabric stash and select and arrange the colors and patterns and then see how they come together as a sewn strip. So far I've only made two of these, but I can see an obsession forming.
And guess who else may have inherited his mama's love of fabrics? Little Dieter. When I was using one of these towels the other day, he immediately noticed that one of the fabrics was from my bag, and he pointed it out to me. After that, we talked about the fabrics from the bunnies too, and he had fun lining up the bag and the bunnies on the towel. I thought that was very clever of him to make that association. Smarty, that one.

These are so pretty! I love the fabrics you chose. Did you use already hemmed tea towels or do it yourself with white fabric?

I use flour sack towels, either from the Martha Stewart Everyday line at Kmart, or some regular flour sack towels I picked up at our local Ben Franklin.
