Ahh, home

I really like being home! I'm such a homebody anyway, but is this the sort of thing that intensifies as we get older? I think it is. It's especially nice to sleep in one's own bed and eat one's own food. Do you love this sandwich? Melted cheddar with home grown tomatoes and avacados from friends. So yummy.
And the pluots from our yard are ripe again (this is a second tree--it has four different types of pluots one one tree--so far the green are the best).
Today we had a date day and Ken and I saw No Reservations. It was pretty good, cute, what I expected it to be. One thing I liked about the movie is that there's no one emotional scene where the aunt and the little girl finally break through all their distance and problems and live happily ever after--it's much more low key than that--more like, yeah, life's hard, we have to go home now, and they just go to their separate rooms. It is very Hollywood-ized, of course, but there's just that little element that is unexpected.

It's getting a little dicey around here as summer draws to a close--I think we're both a bit nervous about getting it all done, how our lives will change, again, as we head back into the school year. I have to remind myself, and do, often, that it all falls into place once we get started, and I basically already know what I need to do--prepare menus, shopping lists, buy some clothes, that sort of thing. Then we'll get going, get lots of energy, and just power through--and enjoy life along the way--working, being busy, powering through, that is our lives. So for now, deep breath, walk 30 minutes, take it all one step at a time.

I admire your optimism always! My experience, like yours, is that it is the anticipation of the busy that makes us cranky not the actual being busy. I'm going to spend the day thinking about how I want to organize fall also. Anna has to be at school for a zero hour, 7:00 a.m.. She'll want to get there at 6:45 which leaves me figuring out what to do until I have to be at work at 8:30 a.m. I suspect there will be a lot of early morning blogs but I'm also thinking about exercise. We'll see.

Oh my gosh, that sounds so nice, Carrie--that forced early-rising followed by free time. I think it will work out well once you get into the swing. Thanks for commenting--it's been getting pretty lonely over here!
